Why we can't find life on other planets.

I am no scientist, all tho my town is getting a holiday inn express. I think of science and look through my telescope all the time. I came up with this theory why we can't find life on other planets, and why they can't see us.
The universe started with lets say the big bang theory. Now I didn't make that up, some other men smarter then I, did. Ok this happen millions and millions of years ago. So we know by looking and studying our own planet that it took millions of years for our planet to cool, and life to form. I'm sure most of you are with me on this so far. Because some really really smart guys found this part out. I'm no Einstien , but he taught us about the speed of light. So now take this in to consideration, when we look out through our telescope and see a planet a million light years away. We are seeing what that planet looked like a million years ago. I'm sure a million years ago each planet just like earth was a cooling ball of crud, just like earth. So our scientist are saying the planets are not habitable. Just like scientist on the planet a million light years away look at earth. They are seeing us a million years ago, a hot mass of rock and crud still cooling in space.
So in conclusion, it will take millions of years for us to find life on other planets.
